Rear Subframe bolt Kit LATE CAT1046
£19.20 (ex VAT £16.00)
Stainless steel nuts and bolts for mounting the rear subframe to the body. Normal steel bolts are renowned for shearing off and making the job dropping the subframe a nightmare. I have been using stainless now for over ten years and have yet to suffer any problems with seized bolts. Though a lot more expensive it is worth it in the long run where corrosion is a problem or you want to keep your nuts shiny! – Balance the cost against having to rebuild the rear floor panel because the bolts have sheared off
Bolts are pointed to help with location, and the nuts are nylocs. A touch of copper slip on assembly helps with fitment and prevents a scenario where the threads weld together (google it – it does happen!)
A point to note – early and late cars – early cars used the stepped mounting blocks on both the front and rear; later cars used a larger block on the front, these are often swapped about so please check what you need before ordering.
STAINLEES GAULING/COLD WELDING
Stainless nuts and bolts can have a tendency to seize when fitted together due to pressure on the threads. It can be solved quite easily by using a lubricant along the lines of copper slip when assembling
